You see what had happened was......

Jaycee had a bike wreck. A bad one. Down a steep hill, going very fast, and obviously not at all in a straight or upright position. She landed on her elbows then rolled.
Bruises=both elbows, one leg, 2 on stomach, 1 on chin, groin (BAD ONE!), and 1 on her chest. Blood= elbow, head, tummy. The head scared me. Always does. Head wounds bleed so bad!! Turns out, it was a very small puncture.
It could have been worse. She could have broken something. We're still not sure about ALL the damage.
We go back to the orthopedic surgeon Wednesday.
Not good. Still yet, it could have been worse.
She has possible damage to the growth plate in her shoulder and maybe something or another going on with the nerve in her elbow (causing numbness in her hand).
I should have gotten more pictures of the MULTIPLE bruises she has......but from the photo below, you'll see she wasn't happen about the camera. =)
This was taken in the ER.....TWO DAYS LATER.
I'm either the mom that runs immediately, thinking broken arm-leg-head, or the mom that makes here kid suffer two days before going in. And truth be told, I tried to get her in to the Doc, but they had nothing open and my baby was sufferin'.
So Jaycee is in a sling....not sure for how long. But she's done well. More xrays tomorrow, doc on Wednesday.
So how was your week??

few new pics

So we'll start at Halloween and work our way to the present :)
Grant had two costumes this year
This is Dr. Ferguson....he wore this one to the school carnival in town.
And this is Batman with his sidekicks, Disco girl and Glamour Witch. (I could have picked somewhere other than the GARAGE to take a memorable pic, huh?)
Jaycee and Kenna shot in their first archery tournament in November. They won 2nd and 1st places, respectively. Very proud! District is in two weeks....WOO HOOO!

HAPPY FALL YALL! ( yes Jaycee's arm is in a sling.....more on that later)

We were honored to be invited to our good friends, the Harkness' for Thanksgiving. They would here of us being "alone" with just the 5 of us. This is the awesome setting for our meal. We had REAL plates and REAL glasses and there was even wine on all the tables!! Very fancy for this small town girl! Yet very welcoming and relaxing! We even played softball in the rain afterwards...good times!

The girls and I at Thanksgiving....(pre-rainy-softball-game)
(and this photo somehow got flipped, so Jaycee's sling is on the "wrong" arm!!)
Enjoy your day....

One of our favorite family past times in fishing. The house we live in now has 2 ponds! We love it!
This is a picture of me, just to prove I was there :)

Jaycee and Kenna with a B-I-G one!!

Grant and his mighty fishin' dog...

Shawn was there too, but he must have been hiding from the pictures. He always teases me that everything we do is just a photo op. So when I take pictures, I have to be sneaky!! haha!

This is Grant at the doctor's office on Monday. He was running fever and had a headache.....we actually went in to check on a bump he got the previous night when he FELL OFF THE CAR. Yep, he's a climber.

btw, he's better :)

This one is from the Halloween party at a friends house. Kenna is a Glamour witch and Jaycee is a disco girl. Batman, Elvis and Dr. Sniffles were also in attendance.

Shawn's handmade, Flyin' Elvis suit circa 1996. Remodeled with some new LED lights. The previous lights were Christmas lights he re-wired INDIVIDUALLY to string up to battery packs he taped to his belt. He was a hit!!

Houston Astros vs Chicago Cubs

Shawn recently cashed in some hotel points and got us tickets to a MLB game in Houston. It was AWESOME!! I had so much fun! The kids had fun, but got a little bored during the game. It was Family day, so there were activities for the kids prior to the game.
Bouncy houses.
wax hands.
Coloring.
Clowns.
Ball pits.
FREE.
It was great!

We sat way up high, but the view was great! AND, we were in the shade the whole time.
A good family photo is rare.

Kids with Junction Jack :)

Grant wanted to see EVERYTHING.

It was so much fun and I hope we get to go again some day.

Creations...

these are just a few of the things I've been making lately....

On my mind...

What's on my mind today??

I can't stop thinking about my best friend's new grandbaby. I picture his mother and all I see is that sweet, 5th grader with the dark reading glasses that used to come into the library and hug me everyday. That was the year I met that whole family. And now she's a mommy?? Wow.
The Daugherty's are my family now.
Now there is Kemper Paul Waldo, the newest addition and I can't wait to get up there to meet him.
And I'm thinking about homework. Man, do I ever have a lot to get done. But I'll get it. Probably late tonight, when it's quiet.
And Dark.

And I'm sleepy.

But I will get it done.

And I'm thinking about getting ready to head into town. Gotta run some errands, post office, church library, newspaper office....then Ferger burgers with Shawn and his office crew!! YESSS! I love it when it's someone's birthday! Happy Birthday, Lydia!

And I'm thinking about the new projects I have started. First are the t-shirt quilts I"m making for the girls. Made from t-shirts from Church camp, 4-H, years of FFA conventions when they were little, trips to special places, shirts people got them on THEIR special trips, "I'm a big sister" shirts, OSU shirts.....there are a LOT of shirts. I've been saving for a while... like 7 years. These might be B-I-G quilts. If you have any experience with making these particular quilts.....please, any advice is WELCOME :)

The other projects are the shirts with the stitched on fabric....do you know what I mean??

Here's a picture of one I finished this morning. I also made some for the girls...red shirts with CC on the front in the zebra print, for Columbus Cardinals.

I get in these crafty moods and just want to.....Produce something. You can't really see in the pic, but this shirt has orange stitching.

Also I have made a few binky holders. Ya know? Those nifty things that hold onto pacifiers when your kid is playing that I'll-throw-this-and-you-go-get-it game?? I made a couple for some friends from church. They are definitely easier to make for girls! You can really BLING those babies out!

These are the ones I made for Miss Ellie. I also have made one with beads....I saw those online, thought, I can do that. So I did.
(more pics to follow)
One other thing weighing the ole mind is our garage sale this weekend. Just kinda outta blue. Well, not really. I mean there's been that pile of stuff in the garage since we moved. It's cooler now, it's the first of the month this weekend...no better time than the present.
But dang, it's a lot of work!! HA!
And I promised my girls 10% each of all profits if they helped. So far, so good.
Better get busy on my day.....Yall come back, now, ya hear.

Sept 26...

Happy Birthday, Papa!! Today my Papa would have been 72 yrs old.
This is not the best picture in the world! But it's the only one I have scanned on my computer right now. Notice the lines across the bottom....That is glass. The picture frame this photo was in got broken and the photo was somehow STUCK to the glass. UGH. So I did the best I could to preserve it by scanning it as is.
This picture was taken at my cousin's wedding about 13 years ago. Aren't they cute!?

Blog Worthy??

Here are a few pics I found on my camera I though might be blog worthy.....
This is me FINALLY getting to wear my scrubs to go to "work" at the hospital. YAY! Can you call it work if you don't actually get paid?? Though I have worked my booty off as a SAHM for 11 years and that only pays in kisses and giggles.... =)

Caught this photo op driving down the road the other day. The sun was just peeking out of the clouds and it was so pretty....God is so good.

This is Grant and he BEST BUD Hailey. She is 4 and plays soccer so we go to cheer her on. Go RED TEAM!! They are attached at the hip a lot of the time and in this pic, it looks as if they actually are!! HA! Neither one can make it a full week without a play date. Honestly, her mom and I can't either! She's MY bud!! Love ya, Molly!

Here are a few more pictures from the County Fair....

The girls outside one of the "rides" they went on. It reminded me of that fun house on Grease. HA! (notice the fancy mud boots...it's wet here people!)

This one cracks me up! Farm boy Heaven!

Grant and I at the petting zoo. This calf wanted to come home with me. He told me :)

Grant wanted this one. He followed that thing around... I could have put him in my pocket. I love them lil suckers!
I wish I had pics of Grant watching the rodeo. He was mezmerized! Until the ropin and bull doggin'. He really wasn't into all that! But the buckin' horses and bulls...oh my.
Lord, save my boy.
Amen.

Buckaroo Baby

This weekend is the Colorado County Fair. There's a lot to do, from the carnival, to arts and crafts, concerts, BBQ cook-off, Tractor-pull, and the RODEO.

I'm not sure how good this video is gonna show up on here, but this is our lil Buckaroo baby riding his first sheep. And folks, He's HOOKED.

After he gets off the sheep and gets back to the stands with his daddy, he looks at me and says, "now what are we gonna do Momma?" I said "well we're gonna watch the rest of the cowboys." "And then it will be my turn again?" He was lookin' for a re-ride, folks!

There were no tears but he did have some dirt where dirt shouldn't be! In his ears, in his boots, in his mouth, and I'm sure a few other places too!

it's time....

...to catch up on the blog!

We just got internet at the new house hooked up yesterday! FINALLY. I've been using my phone which just isn't the same.
We are loving our new house outside of Columbus. It's so quiet and peaceful (as peaceful as 3 kids and 2 dogs can be :D) The view out back is phenomenal.....worth the hassle of the move!

School has resumed and we are all settling into our routines. The girls are in the 5th grade now. For years, I couldn't wait until they got into Mrs. Griffin's reading class and Mrs. Matchett's class in Quanah.....kinda makes me sad they aren't getting to have the pleasure of these two amazing women. But they are enjoying school here just the same. They are the oldest on campus now, so they get a few more privileges now. They are gearing up for lots of activities in GT, signed up for shoir again, enrolled in 2 4-H clubs this year (there regular club and the shooting sports club), they start choir practice at church every Monday in a couple weeks along with a Bible Drill Club. Awanas also starts soon, as does the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace course SHawn and I will be taking. I'm so ready for that one!!

Grant is adjusting to his time at daycare. He stays with a friend from church that has a little boy Grants age. She keeps a few kids at home and Grant just thinks it's a play day! He only goes about 2-3 days a week, when I'm in Houston for class and while I'm at the hospital doing my clinicals (which I start next week! :D)

It's looking like I could be done with school by next Fall for sure. It's about time. gah.

It's been raining everyday here, but it's so hot and humid.....I can't wait for cooler weather. It's pitiful for the windows in the house to be fogged over from the cold inside and the humidity outside!

I guess that's all for now...need to upload pics another time.
ttfn!

our summer so far...

I must figure out this uploading pictures thing! It's got me baffled!!

Anyways...a lot has been going on around here and I've only got a minute to catch you all up on a few things. We are moving to a new house and this is the view from our back porch. You are all welcome to come over for coffee anytime and watch the sunrise. Then, in the evenings, we'll sit out and watch the many, many deer come and frolick in the valley. Oh yes. It's magnificent!!!

These pictures were taken about 2 months ago on a canoeing trip down the Colorado River. We like to go do this quite often. It's cheap family fun and we get our excersize.

I have more pics on my phone I need to upload..... I'll try to do that soon. Tonight we'll be moving most of the big furniture over to the new house. I'm sooo ready to be done. The food/kitchen situation is annoying. Food here, dishes there. Not a good planner, I guess.
The girls are in the middle of swimming lessons, went to a 4-H leatherworking day camp, have been to VBS in Quanah, church camp in OK, and it's not even July yet. Grant hopes to get his swimming lessons done soon....he's sooo jealous when we drop them off every morning. :(
We have Vbs here in another week, more 4-H day camps, a trip to San Antonio for Shawn and I while the kids go to Grandma and Pawpaw's, not to mention unpacking the new house and getting ready for some visitors later this summer!! yaya!!!
More to come later!

I have been trying for days to upload pictures to go along with my blog..... it's just not happening! So you only get one picture today...

To play a little catch up , I will fill you in on what's been going on here in South Texas. May is always busy with the school year wrapping up. I finally finished my classes on the 8th (yay!) I have struggled this year since moving schools and doing classes strictly online...not easy with a little boy runnin' around, craving your attention! But I did finish with 2 A's, a B, and a C :(.....

The girls finished up Choir at school with a concert at school and a contest in Spring. They came home with an amazing trophy, scoring a Superior rating and receiving all 1's. They were very proud!

This picture was taken the day of the concert, they got to go to the waterpark in Spring afterwards ( I went along as a sponsor). It was a lot of fun....and, NO, I didn't swim :)

Kenna participated on the Consumer Decision Making team this year in 4-H. They went to a contest back in March in San Antonio. She did well there, getting the highest score on her team. They recently competed at District in College Station, and she was placed in the Top 10 (the only one from her team) and her team placed 7th (they were short one person compared to all the other teams, so that's pretty good!)

I am looking forward to getting their last 4th grade report cards and seeing straight A's once again... :)

Grant has been enjoying playdates with Hailey, his "buddy", she's a lot of fun! And I especially enjoy the "adult" time her Mommy and I have! LOL

He had a bday party back in April here at the house. He had a few friends over (Easter weekend and many people were out of town) Shawn grilled hamburgers (FERGERS, yum) and we all enjoyed getting to know some of our new friends a little better. Grant got new boots, and likes to wear them with everything! What little boy doesn't?

I am trying to get the girls into some activities this summer. There seems to be a lot to choose from around here. I know they will be taking swimming lessons, maybe attend some sports camps here in town.....they played basketball in Jan-Feb and had fun...even though their daddy coached them :) There is a big volleyball camp coming up.....I guess we'll have to pick something!

Shawn recently interviewed for a job in Lawton, OK. God apparently wants us to stay put a little while longer. We both agree God is in control, and we leave it in his hands to take us where we belong. We WILL be taking trips home this summer though...more than one, I'm sure! We miss our families something terrible!!

As a matter of fact, this weekend, Shawn's mom and sister are coming to visit (well not visit as much to KIDNAP my children!! haha). They will be staying all weekend, then leaving with the girls on Tuesday after their awards assembly at school to head back to OK. They will be going to Falls Creek the very next day. Grant and I will be leaving on Wednesday to head to Holdenville to see my folks, then pick up Jaycee and Kenna on Sunday on our way to Quanah!!!!!!!!! Yippeee!! The girls will be going to VBS at FBCQ with all of their old friends.... they are STOKED!!

I plan on attending a girls night out (maybe twice lol) with all my peeps, driving over to see my brother in Altus/Snyder at his new digs, going to church, eating at Red's and K&R, and just hanging out with my people!!!!!!!! I'm am sooooo excited!

I will try again to post pics....thanks for reading!!

Recently we took a trip to the South Llano River State Park outside of Junction, TX. It was so pretty there....clean, clear water, birds chirping...serene. These are a few shots taken while we were there.

Jaycee, not happy about being in the boat with me....

They are a little out of order because I have yet to master this blog thing... This is Grant and Kenna and Shawn... None of the kids wanted to ride with me :(
This was taken by the guy we rented the 2nd canoe from....the whole family just before our 4 hour canoe trip.

Grant LOVES him some smores!!

Headed down to the river to go fishing. Has somewhat of an "Andy and Opie" feel, huh?

The last day, the girls fianlly convinced Shawn to take them tubing. It was icy cold water, but they enjoyed it...Grant and I spent our time fishing (feeding the turtles is more like it!)

I absolutely LOVE this picture.
Love, J
